It turns out thereâs a new breakthrough in town and itâs called Collective Intelligence. Iâve been studying this idea for many years now under a variety of names and from a large number of angles. I believe we should be able to share ideas with each other collectively and work together better over time. Working together as a team through a kind of collective intelligence would be a brand new type of democracy. Itâs more or less like democracy except instead of every four years or something itâs continuous. We already experience collective intelligence in our own lives, because our brains are already networks of memories and organs working together.
Pretty good right? So whatâs the catch? The catch is that so far collective intelligence is extremely underdeveloped. We might think of something like âgoogle searchâ or âstack overflowâ or "the blogosphereâ or perhaps ânetflixâ or âyoutubeâ or âwikipediaâ as a type of collective intelligence. Even so, most of these platforms werenât exactly defined with that goal in mind. They have often been designed instead in favor of something called âattention seeking individualityâ which is a term I just made up. Even so, you get the picture right? A lot of existing systems arenât designed to produce a better world or help us actually achieve anything, theyâre mostly about seeking attention and influence. Thatâs a bit of a problem if we want to build a better future like in a television series such as Star Trek or perhaps a video game series like Persona.
Collective intelligence is more than just a simple idea, itâs a way of living. Itâs a way of going through the world, itâs a way of relating to work and life, itâs a way of traveling through experiences. Collective intelligence emphasizes how we are capable of doing much more when we work together, how working together is precisely what helps us live better lives collectively. When we work together, thereâs less suffering in the world, more art, better art, wider choices in television and video games, and the best part? Real life starts to exhibit characteristics of our best art. Thatâs what happens when we fire on all cylinders together in collective intelligence, life becomes active art.
Thatâs just one way of doing things. The point is, in collective intelligence we can more easily synchronize with other people in order to harmoniously build a better future, explore history, study crimes, level up, invent new projects, learn, and grow. Itâs amazing and itâs actually extremely easy. It starts with us declaring collective intelligence as a sort of âgoal to work towardsâ and then we have to implement and experiment with tools and systems for enhancing collective intelligence. Thatâs the trick, thatâs the secret, is more or less that weâre going to have to explore the future.
It all starts with teamwork. When we work together, all of us get to experience more aspects of life that we never even knew we wanted to experience. One of the enormous benefits of collective intelligence is dramatic increases in everyday experiences of synchronicity, advanced encounters with possibilities we never even knew we wanted. That maybe what we thought we desired, wasnât really what we truly longed for after all. That perhaps there was a whole catalogue of things we never even thought to look for. In collective intelligence, we can encounter that stuff all the time. Life can be a heck of a lot more amazing and everything can be so simple and easy! Thatâs because when we all share memories and ideas with each other, we all benefit from each otherâs mistakes and insights in order to live better day to day lives.
Thatâs magic! Real magic is made possible by collective intelligence, a feeling of magic, especially relative to the lives we might have been living before such harmonies were made possible. Will we one day take collective intelligence for granted? Itâs hard to say! It might end up making us so happy that we are just thrilled to be alive, excited to wake up every single morning and help discover the next great set of connections. Thereâs always new connections to make, new discoveries to uncover, new combinations to try, combinations of memories, ideas, experiences. In collective intelligence life is a gift that just keeps on giving, every single day. Sounds good to me! I sure would love to live in a better future where we all work together.
